Epitalon (Epithalon, AEDG) is a synthetic tetrapeptide derived from a naturally occurring pineal gland peptide, composed of four amino acids (Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly). It has been extensively studied in Russian research for its role in regulating aging processes, particularly through telomerase activation and circadian rhythm modulation. The peptide is associated with cellular longevity, improved sleep regulation via melatonin production, and systemic anti-aging effects. Research suggests it may influence gene expression, antioxidant systems, and cellular repair pathways, with effects observed even at extremely low (microgram-level) concentrations.
Mechanism of Action
Epitalon activates telomerase, enabling maintenance and elongation of telomeres, thereby extending cellular replicative lifespan.
